According to Faded Youth Blog Olivia will not play the title role of Lara Croft in the upcoming Tomb Raider reboot.
According to her reps, the Tron: Legacy actress will not play the role previously played by Angelina Jolie in two critically panned films: Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and its sequel Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life.

Wilde is reportedly set to take on the role of Lara Croft in the game-inspired Tomb Raider film franchise.
“The idea is to get a top director and an intelligent script and make this an empowering character for women as well as a popular one with men,” a source said.
“Olivia is just one of the names being suggested for the lead role. She would appear to be ideal.”
Wilde was first linked to the role back in December, when the actress — along with Megan Fox and High School Musical hottie Vanessa Hudgens — were all being mentioned as the new Lara.
“The idea is to make a movie around the game which would tell the story of the origins of Lara,” a source said at the time. “It will be action packed, gritty and much darker than the previous Tomb Raider movies.”

ASTRONAUTS, aviation pioneers and Tomb Raider star Lara Croft ensured lessons at Thornton Primary School were especially lively!
Pupils followed in the footsteps of Christopher Columbus, adventurous founder of America, during a special explorers week as they got to know more about the world.
Youngsters and teaching staff got into the spirit of things by dressing up as these stars of world travel.
Tracey Barnes, teaching assistant at the Heys Street school, said: “This year’s themed lesson week was explorers.
“Through a creative curriculum the children learned all about them in their daily lessons.
“Each year group chose a different type of exploration, including under the sea, African safari, South American adventure, Tudor explorers and Space exploration.
“The children learned a lot.
“The week’s work culminated in a special assembly where each class showed the other children what they had been learning about.
“The assembly consisted of poems, songs, art work and lots of new and exciting information that the children had discovered.
“We had quite a few Lara Crofts, it was a lot of fun.”

Tomb Raider, the video game spin-off about an adventurous heiress with a penchant for small vests and mummy-ridden ruins, could be heading back to the big screen, reports Deadline.
Hollywood plans to reboot the film series, which currently consists of two movies from the early 2000s, both starring Angelina Jolie. Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, from 2001, made $274m worldwide but the follow-up, 2003′s Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life, managed just $156m, signalling the death knell for the saga. Both films received short shrift from critics.
“We are very excited to be rebooting what is already a hugely successful film franchise and continuing the Tomb Raider phenomenon,” said producer Graham King, who helped bring Martin Scorsese’s The Departed and Ben Affleck’s The Town to cinemas through his company, GK Films.
There have so far been 10 editions of the Tomb Raider game, which started in 1996, and the franchise is one of the two best-recognised brands in the video game industry, alongside Super Mario Brothers. More than 35m copies have been sold worldwide.
So far there has been no announcement from GK Films regarding cast or director for the proposed reboot, and a start date appears to be some way off. This is the second time Hollywood has tried to reboot the series – a 2009 attempt by Sherlock Holmes producer Dan Lin failed when the rights reverted to the copyright owner before production began.

BEIJING, March 9 (Xinhuanet) — “Tomb Raider,” one of the most popular adventurous video games, will be heading to the big screen, according to Deadline quotting Graham King.
King, the heavyweight producer behind “The Departed” and “The Town,” announced Monday that his company has acquired “Tomb Raider” movie rights from game company Square Enix, and plans to reboot the action-adventure franchise.
“We are very excited to be rebooting what is already a hugely successful film franchise and continuing the Tomb Raider phenomenon,” said King.
King expected the reboot to hit theaters within two years. However, so far there has been no announcement from GK Films about cast members, writer or director for the proposed reboot, and a start date also seems to be some way off.
GK Films has acquired the feature film rights to the “Tomb Raider” video game franchise and intends to reboot the series minus previous star Angelina Jolie. According to a press release, the mission is to “create daring new adventures for the young and dynamic Lara Croft,” hinting that an origin story is in order. GK Films is aiming for a 2013 release.

Tomb Raider is set to be rebooted for a third big screen outing – but reportedly without Angelina Jolie.
The actress played the videogame vixen Lara Croft in the action films in 2001 and again in 2003, cementing her place as a Hollywood superstar.
The two installments were made by Paramount Pictures, and now The Departed producer Graham King has acquired the rights to the franchise from Japanese videogame company Square Enix Ltd, and is planning to release a third movie in 2013.
In a press release, King states he’s looking for a young Lara Croft, sparking speculation film bosses will be working on a prequel and casting a younger star in Jolie’s famous role.
The statement adds, “We are very excited to be rebooting what is already a hugely successful film franchise and continuing the Tomb Raider phenomenon.”
Jolie’s two turns as the British archaeologist garnered box office profits of $432 million.

It’s easy to be cynical about the just-announced reboot of the Tomb Raider film franchise. Angelina Jolie’s turn as skimpily-dressed treasure hunter Lara Croft was incredibly iconic — it’s a big reason why she’s basically the only go-to action heroine left in Hollywood — and it’s hard to imagine a younger actress stepping into the role. Still, it’s worth pointing out that neither of the original Lara Croft films were all that great. And considering that, Sucker Punch excepted, female-driven action movies are few and far between, a Tomb Raider reboot could actually be a great way to kickstart the career of the next great female action star. But who should play Lara Croft? Mila Kunis seems like an obvious choice. (She even played a younger Jolie in Gia.) Olivia Wilde and Scarlett Johansson have both had some action-film success. My personal pick would be Gemma Arterton — hey, why not cast someone who’s actually British this time?
